VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!

WHY VOLUNTEER

The Pickering Football Club’s All Abilities Program is a unique program which offers children, youth, and adults with varying intellectual or physical abilities a chance to have fun, make friends and get fit.  We have grown to become one of the largest inclusive soccer/recreational programs in Canada.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Our program’s success comes mainly from our dedicated and motivated young volunteer leaders who serve as volunteer mentors and coaches to our athletes. We are always looking for volunteers to join our program.

You will receive specialised training and the opportunity to truly make a difference in our community.  Join our team to help us continue to bring much needed sports programs to the many, children, youth and adults in our community who may never get a chance to play and have fun in a sports environment.

Mandatory Volunteer Training - date TBA at the Pickering Soccer Centre (Event Room).

Please RSVP at allabilities@pickeringfc.ca.

All funds raised from this book will be used to offset our program registration fees!! The cost for each athlete to participate in our All Abilities Program is $340.00 per person. Through fundraising, support from Jumpstart, and your contributions, we have been able to significantly reduce our registration fees

All Abilities Needs Your Help

1.   Please join us on October 24, 8:30 am start

I will be mapping out our route and rest stops which we will make available to everyone who is interested. Our route will start at the Soccer Centre, and we will follow the waterfront trail to Lynde Shores Conservation Area. We will return to the Soccer Centre by walking along Bayly Street.  My husband will have our CREW vehicle, where we will store extra gear, water & snacks. He is also available to pick people up along our walk if needed. He is fully vaccinated. Please connect with allabilities@pickeringfc.ca if you would like to participate in the walk - there is no fee to enjoy the morning with us.

2.   Spread the word

This has been a very tough 2 years for our program. We need your help to raise funds, so that we may continue to provide quality specialized programming to our All Abilities Families!

Help us spread the word by:

  • Share details about our program and event on Social Media
  • Share details about our program and event with your contacts
  • Are you connected with any local businesses who may want to make a donation?
  • Does your place of work make donations to Non Profit Organizations like ours??
  • Do you have any well-off family members or friends?

3.   Make a donation

Even the smallest of donations makes a big difference. Tax receipts will be issued to anyone who makes a donation of $20.00 or more.

When Alex Cappuccitti started playing soccer in the Pickering All Abilities program more than a decade ago, it was impossible for him to know then just how much the league would change his life, and how far it would take him … not only on the pitch, but off it.

This is the story of Alex.

Jumpstart Community Development Grant provides additional funding to PFC

February 2, 2021

We are so happy to announce that our All Abilities Program has received additional funding from the Jumpstart Community Development Grant to assist us with programming this winter season! This funding will go a long way to support us in facilitating, adapting, pivoting, and developing our inclusive and accessible soccer and multi-sport programs. Our coaches have been challenged this year to envision new ways of offering our programs to our athletes. We are committed to continue with our Three Pillars: Fun, Friendship & Fitness, even when shifting from onsite to virtual programming.

For our PFC All Abilities athletes and their families, our programs are important. We provide a place where everyone is accepted despite their differences. Friendships are fostered. Mentors are created. Our program is hands on, includes giggles and a lot of high fives. We secretly challenge our athletes daily life skills such as hand/eye coordination, agility, balance and speed. Lastly, our program is athlete led, ensuring that there is an element of fun in everything we do. It is a fun place to be. It is a safe place to be.

Our PFC All Abilities Programs are important. They connect our athletes, families, and volunteers with a community of acceptance. Where there are challenges, we see solutions. This pandemic has certainly challenged us, but we have a creative team who are deeply connected to our program and our families. They will try anything to stay connected, even when we cannot be together. We will not let the latest lock down stop us!

Thank you Jumpstart for your continued support!

The Pickering Football Club’s All Abilities program has been offering accessible recreational opportunities to children and youth in the Durham area for the past 12 years. Today, we offer numerous programs year round at the Pickering Football Club and through our community partners in the Greater Toronto Area. Through growth and innovation, we have been able to pilot new projects every year offering expanded accessible programs to diverse populations.

In an effort to provide future accessible programming, we have established the All Abilities Development Fund. In partnership with Sport4Ontario and the National Sport Trust Fund, we are able to issue tax receipts for all donations.

Proceeds from the All Abilities Development Fund will be used to:

  • Create and implement All Abilities outreach programs in the Durham area
  • Purchase upgraded sport and recreational equipment
  • Provide leadership and accessibility training to our coaches and volunteers
  • Establish athlete and volunteer bursaries

Every child deserves the opportunity to participate in recreational opportunities that are fun, incorporates fitness and develops friendships. This holiday season, make giving back a holiday tradition. Consider supporting the Pickering Football Clubs All Abilities program.
